Solar panels for manufacturers.

Commercial solar PV and battery storage for manufacturing sites, sized around your production load to cut energy costs, cut carbon and keep your lines running.

Cornerstone site managers walking past a manufacturing plant ahead of a commercial solar installation

Manufacturing is one of the most energy-intensive ways to run a business, and electricity is often one of the biggest costs on the production floor.

Machinery, compressors, extraction, lighting and process heating draw power throughout the working day, which is exactly when a commercial solar array generates. That means more of the electricity your roof produces is used on site, instead of being bought from the grid at full price.

We design manufacturing solar around how your plant actually uses power: your shift patterns, your process loads and your continuity needs. Battery storage can hold surplus generation for later in the day and protect critical loads, and any remaining surplus can be exported back to the grid.

How we install solar for manufacturers

  • Site assessment and feasibility: roof condition and loading, connection points, and where battery storage can integrate.
  • Sizing to your production load: we model generation against your half-hourly data and shift patterns, so the system fits how your plant runs.
  • Smart infrastructure design: safe, efficient layouts that integrate with your existing electrical systems.
  • Installation around production: work planned and phased to keep your lines running.
  • Commissioning and handover: tested and certified to BS 7671, with monitoring set up from day one.

Built for every kind of manufacturer

From engineering and fabrication to food and drink, plastics, printing, textiles, and pharmaceutical and healthcare production, our approach is the same: start with your consumption data, design around your process, and protect the loads that cannot afford to stop.

If your roof needs work first, our roofing and energy teams can deliver both in one coordinated programme, with a single combined 30-year warranty when we fit the roof and install the solar. Running a large distribution or storage building instead? See solar for factories and warehouses.

FAQs

Manufacturing solar questions answered.

Can't see your question here? Our team is happy to talk it through.

Is solar worth it for a manufacturing business?

Manufacturing sites use most of their electricity during the working day, which is when solar generates, so more of what your roof produces is used on site instead of bought from the grid. We model your savings and payback from your own consumption data before you commit.

How do you size a solar system for a manufacturing plant?

We start with your half-hourly consumption data, or install monitoring if you do not have it, then design around your shift patterns and process loads so the system fits how your plant actually runs.

Will installing solar disrupt production?

No. Installation is planned and phased around your production schedule so your lines keep running, and we integrate with your existing electrical systems safely.

Can battery storage protect our critical processes?

Yes. Battery storage can hold surplus generation for later in the day and be sized to support the loads that cannot afford to stop, giving you more resilience against grid interruptions.

What if our factory roof is not suitable for solar?

Our roofing team can upgrade or replace the roof first, and when we fit the roof and install the solar both are covered by a single combined 30-year warranty. Ground-mount and solar carport options are also available.
