Commercial solar savings calculator.

Move the sliders to estimate how much a rooftop array could generate, save and earn on your building, and how much carbon it would avoid.

Rows of solar panels across a large commercial roof

Your building

Unshaded roof you could cover. A warehouse 100 m by 40 m has about 4,000 m² of roof, but usually not all of it is usable.
Where is the building?
Which way does the roof face?
From your bills. If you have half-hourly data, it gives a much better answer.
When is the site busy?
Check what your supplier offers under the Smart Export Guarantee.
We don’t publish prices because every roof is different. Add a figure to see a simple payback.

Get a proper model from your data

An estimate only, not a quote or a design. It assumes about 0.18 kWp of panels per m² of usable roof, typical UK yields for your region, 0.5% panel degradation a year, flat energy prices and a UK grid carbon factor of about 0.21 kg CO₂ per kWh. Real results depend on shading, roof condition, export limits set by the network operator and how your site uses power. For comparison, our own projects include Booker Watford (3.1-year payback), Bilsborrow Hall Farm (3.3 years) and Booker Newton Abbott (3.4 years).

What the calculator can’t see

The biggest driver of payback is how much of the solar you use yourself. Every unit you use on site saves the full price of grid power, while every unit you export earns much less. That depends on when your site uses power, which only half-hourly data shows properly.

The roof matters too. If it needs work in the next few years, do it first, or together with the solar. When we fit the roof and install the solar, both are covered by one combined 30-year warranty.

Our guide to commercial solar payback explains every factor, and battery storage covers when storing surplus power pays.

FAQs

Solar calculator questions answered.

Can't see your question here? Our solar team is happy to talk it through.

How accurate is the calculator?

It gives a realistic first estimate from typical UK figures. A proper design uses your half-hourly electricity data, a roof survey and shading analysis, which can move the answer either way.

Why do you not show a price?

Every roof is different. Cost depends on the size of the array, the roof type and condition, access, and the grid connection. Add a quoted figure to see a simple payback, or ask us for a quote.

What does self-consumption mean?

It is the share of the solar power your site uses as it is generated. Power you use yourself saves the full grid price, while exported power earns a lower Smart Export Guarantee rate, so higher self-consumption means a faster payback.

Can you check whether my roof is suitable?

Yes. We survey the roof structure and condition before designing any system, and we can replace or refurbish the roof in the same project.

Want a proper solar model?

Send us your half-hourly data or recent bills and we will model your site, survey the roof and give you a clear payback.
