Engineering Works Re-Roof

Replacing an asbestos roof and walls with insulated twin-skin cladding that meets current thermal standards.

Re-clad industrial unit with insulated metal walls and a roller shutter door

The problem

A specialist engineering firm’s building had an asbestos cement roof with discoloured rooflights, corroded hook bolts and leaks in many places. The wall cladding was cracked and damaged too. The roof was beyond economic repair.

The solution

We removed the asbestos roof and wall cladding and issued a certificate of disposal. The new twin-skin roof has a 0.7 mm liner, an Ashgrid spacer system, 220 mm of quilt insulation and a 0.7 mm outer sheet, with rooflights increased to 20% and new trimline gutters. The walls were re-clad with an insulated twin-skin system using 160 mm of quilt.

The result

A warm, watertight building brought up to current U-value standards, with much more natural light inside.
